Maker Portfolio

As a maker, I have always had a passion for making my own equipment. My projects often focus on gantry systems for fabricating new materials or increasing the capabilities of my robotics team.

Some of the skills that I've explored are:

  • CAD Design

  • Abaqus FEA Simulation

  • Slicing / 3D Printing

  • Electrical Design

  • Programming Microcontrollers

  • CAM Programming

  • Lathe Skills

  • Woodworking Skills

About Me

I am a high school senior based in Portland, OR with a passion for mechanical engineering, materials science, and robotics. I love to tackle tough problems, putting my hands to work and getting my mind working.

As a research assistant at the VAMOS Lab at Oregon State University, I explored liquid crystal elastomer and novel additive manufacturing methods for polymers.

Within my community, I lead my school's robotics team, Ground Control, mentoring younger students in CAD design, programming, and robotics.

In my free-time you might find me trying not to die as I upgrade my custom CNC router or fueling my unhealthy obsession with boba.

Research Portfolio

My research over the last years has focused on materials fabrication including polymer science, additive manufacturing, and liquid crystal materials. Liquid crystal elastomers, a type of polymer possessing both rubber-like properties as well as those of liquid crystal materials, have been a particular focus recently. Research has explored achieving programmable actuation modes as well as improving structural and chemical properties of the material and its curing process.
